Richard is starting a new series, “When in Rome,” to see how Paul’s instructions for the issues Christians in Rome face. This week we are in Romans 1. We all have a past/history, but the good news is that we all have the same hope in Christ.
This week we conclude the series “A Tale of Two Babies” by reading Mark 1:1-8 where it clearly defined the role John was to play in Jesus’ ministry. John laid the foundation for Christ to begin His ministry and we are called to continue to build on the foundation and message of Christ.
As we move into the Christmas season, we focus on the birth of Christ and often overlook the birth of John the Baptist. This week we take a look at the birth of John in Luke 1 and the significance this plays in the story of Christ.
Richard takes on a trip through the Bible this week as we look at what is said about being thankful. We read Psalm 100, James 1:13-18, Colossians 2:4-7, and Job 42:1-6. We should be thankful for all that we do have and the only thing we should long for is a deeper relationship with Christ.
As we wrap up our series in Thessalonians, we are left with some parting wisdom from Paul in 2 Thessalonians 3. We are not called to be busybodies, rather we are called to do the work God has for us.
At the end of 2 Thessalonians 2, we study the call of Paul to Stand Firm. We are to stand firm in the faith that we have received and continue to do the good works and use the good words we were given to multiply the faith in the next generation.
We continue through 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 this week. We are reminded from this passage that we need to always look to the Lord, not to the world.

As we continue through 1 Thessalonians this week, we see Paul’s directions for grieving at the close of chapter 4. We see in this passage that the grieving of those in Christ should be different of those grieving without Christ as we have the hope of being reunited with the Lord upon His return.
