Mason starts a new series this week where we will explore Job’s struggles and what his story teaches us about mental health, faith, and suffering, discovering how compassion, seeking help, and trusting God can walk hand-in-hand through life’s darkest seasons.
This week we start at the beginning of Job’s story, where we see he is an upright, faithful follower of God. In this same chapter, Job loses everything he has worked for, including his children. Job mourns the losses, but he remains faithful. His friends show up to mourn with him for seven days in silence before Job speaks.
The Bible makes room for lament, anguish, and depression. These emotional struggles do not equal spiritual struggles. Even in our darkness, we are not beyond the reach of God’s love.
