We are in Exodus 18 this week looking at the lesson that Moses learns from his Father-in-Law. Moses sits as the judge over all Israel trying to handle all of their issues alone, and he recieves advice to appoint others to handle the smaller issues and to only handle the larger issues that they cannot resolve.
This is an early example of the point Paul makes in Galatians 6 to carry one another’s burdens. It is not a sign of weakness to seek help; it is what we are supposed to do. In Genesis, God said that it is not good for man to be alone; we were created for community.
