This week Richard takes a look at the carol O Come, O Come, Emmanuel and the scripture this relates to. This carol is an expression of longing for the Lord, as seen in the first verse where Israel is longing to be freed from captivity.
In Matthew 1:18-25, Joseph is given a message from the Lord that the baby Mary carries was conceived by the Holy Spirit and that the child would be named Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins; he would also be called Immanuel, God is with us.
God came to be with us, so that He could die for us.
